Target of The Day #80, 9/4/2007 1:07:00 PM Let College Football Writer Pete Fituak Know Wrestling and Other Non-Revenue Sports Do Matter!Attention wrestling fans, It’s time to come together and let your opinions be heard! According to writer Pete Fiutak of College Football News (pete@collegefootballnews.com) no one wants to watch men’s wrestling, volleyball or other non-revenue sports. Fiutak wrote those comments in an article on scout.com located at: http://fresnostate.scout.com/a.z?s=164&p=2&c=675506 The article stated this: “And somewhere, someone was breaking something tasteful because he couldn’t watch Penn State beat FIU 59-0 … Big Ten Network, it’s time to blink. Sorry BTN, but Comcast is right. No one wants to watch women’s volleyball or men’s wrestling, and the more you pretend that women’s sports and non-revenue activities matter, and are worthy of cable subscribers paying extra for it, the sillier you look. People will watch football, men's basketball, and classic football games. That's it.” Well, fooey on Fiutak! So basically, in Fiutak's world, no other sports matter. No other student-athlete matters, and most certainly according to him, college wrestling doesn’t matter. We at The Wrestling Mall tend to believe different. In fact, we know wrestling fans are among the most passionate and dedicated group of sports fans out there. That’s why it’s time to let Mr. Fiutak knows his comments were erroneous, his statements incorrect. It’s time to send a message from the wrestling community to Mr. Fiutak. Let him know why college wrestling is a great sport. Let him know about the passion and dedication of its fans and competitors. Let him know about the history and tradition of the sport, and most of all, let him know that just because he writes for a second-rate college football Web site that it doesn’t allow him to bash sports he obviously knows nothing about. Also remember to change the subject header below from "Important" to something that will get Fituak's attention.
